Penuel

Penuel (Hebrew פְּנוּאֵל), also known as the "face of God", is a place not far from Succoth, on the east of the Jordan River and north of the river Jabbok. It is also called "Peniel" by Jacob, meaning 'face of God', "It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared. " Here Jacob wrestled "with a man" "till the break of day. " A town was afterward built there . The men of this place refused to give bread to Gideon and his 300 men when they were in pursuit of the Midianites .

Moab

Moab is the historical name for a mountainous strip of land in Jordan. The land lies alongside much of the eastern shore of the Dead Sea. The existence of the Kingdom of Moab is attested to by numerous archeological findings, most notably the Mesha Stele, which describes the Moabite victory over an unnamed son of King Omri of Israel. The Moabite capital was Dibon. In Biblical times, the nation was often in conflict with its Israelite neighbours to the west.

Salt, Jordan

Salt is an ancient agricultural town and administrative centre in west-central Jordan. It is on the old main highway leading from Amman to Jerusalem. Situated in the Balqa highland, about 790–1100 metres above sea level, the town is built in the crook of three hills, close to the Jordan River valley. One of the three hills is the site of a 13th century ruined fortress. It is the capital of the Balqa Governorate. The Greater Salt Municipality has about 97,000 inhabitants (2006).

Damia Bridge

The Damia Bridge, also known as the Adam Bridge, is a bridge over the Jordan River between the West Bank and Jordan. It is about 50 km north of Jericho and is the location of an Israeli border checkpoint. In Operation Markolet (known as the Night of the bridges) on the night of 16-17 June 1946, the bridge was blown up by Haganah forces. Nearby, east of the river, is the small mound known as Tell Adamiyeh, which has long been identified as the site of the Biblical City of Adam.

The King Talal Dam is a large dam in the hills of northern Jordan, across the Zarqa River. The King Talal dam was started in 1971, with the original construction being completed in 1977. In 1984, to meet the country's increased water demands, work to raise the dam further was begun, a project that was completed in 1988 at a cost of $90 million. The dam is named after King Talal of Jordan, a monarch who briefly reigned from July 20, 1951 to August 11, 1952.

Zarqa River

The Zarqa River is the second largest tributary of the lower Jordan River, after the Yarmouk River. The Tulul adh-Dhahab, Jordan, are two adjacent tells in the Zarqa River valley, a sidevalley of the Jordan Valley about an hour's drive northwest of Amman in Jordan. The western of the twin hills was populated at least from Bronze Age to Late Antiquity, a beginning of settlement in the Neolithic period is also possible. After the collapse of the ancient buildings probably by an earthquake in Late Antiquity there was no subsequent settlement on the site.
