Shiki, Saitama is a city located in Saitama Prefecture, Japan. The city was founded on 26 October 1970. As of 1 April 2008, it has an estimated population of 69,549. The total area is 9.06 km².

Minami-ku, Saitama is one of the ten wards of Saitama located in Saitama Prefecture, Japan. On April 1, 1889, various mergers took place in Kitaadachi District. On the same date in 1932, further mergers resulted in the formation of the town of Urawa. This town became a city with the same name in 1934. Separately, the village of Mutsuji became a town in 1938, and in 1942 it was absorbed into Urawa, still with the name Mutsuji.

Akigase Park
Akigase Park is a park in Japan that occupies a section of flood plain of the Arakawa River, which is located at the western edge of Saitama City. The park covers an area of 100.1ha on the eastern side of the river between its northern boundary, 3 km north of the Akigase Bridge, and the southern boundary, the Hanekura Bridge. In 1971, former Urawa City established the park as a measure to manage the rising issue of insufficient park availability stemmed from rapid urban expansion.
