Venice Film Festival
The Venice Film Festival or Venice International Film Festival (Italian Mostra Internazionale d'Arte Cinematografica della Biennale di Venezia) is the oldest international film festival in the world. Founded by Count Giuseppe Volpi in 1932 as the "Esposizione Internazionale d'Arte Cinematografica", the festival has since taken place every year in late August or early September on the island of the Lido, Venice, Italy.

Grand Hotel des Bains
The Grand Hotel des Bains is a hotel on the Lido of Venice, northern Italy. Built in 1900 to attract wealthy tourists, it is remembered amongst other things for Thomas Mann's stay there in 1911, which inspired his novella Death in Venice. Luchino Visconti's film of the novel was shot there in 1971. The hotel was also used as Shepheard's Hotel in Cairo in the 1996 film The English Patient. Diaghilev died at the hotel in 1929.
Lazzaretto Vecchio
The Lazzaretto Vecchio is an island of the Venetian Lagoon, northern Italy, located near the Lido of Venice. Between 1403 and 1630 it housed a hospital which cared for people during the plague epidemics and as a leprosarium. It was later used, as were other islands, as a military post. It covers an area 2.53 hectares large. Since 2004 archaeologists have unearthed more than 1500 skeletons of plague victims buried here between the 15th and 17th centuries.
Malamocco
Malamocco is one of the three narrow inlets in the enclosing coastal dune bar that connect the Venetian Lagoon with the Adriatic Sea, together with the Lido and Chioggia inlets. The little locality of Malamocco, in old texts given as Metamaucum, is situated at the southern end of the Lido island, from which a narrow circular canal separates it, a reminder of the active fishing port once located here.
Sacca Sessola
Sacca Sessola loosely translated as "Scoop Bag" (also known as Isola delle Rose or Island of Roses") is an island in the Venetian Lagoon, northern Italy. One of the biggest in the lagoon (16.03 ha) and the youngest. It was artificially created in 1870 in Codas of Reziol, a branch of the Channel Rezzo, with materials from the construction of the Santa Marta commercial port, and has been used a fule dump, hospital, farming land, UNESCO research complex.
