Ashdod-Sea

Ashdod-Yam is an Iron Age archaeological site on the Mediterranean coast of Israel in southern part of the modern city of Ashdod and about 5 kilometres southwest of Tel Ashdod (site of one of the ancient cities of the Philistines). The site is mentioned in documents from the time of Sargon II of Assyria when in 713 BCE the Assyrian king speaks of having to depose a usurper who had taken over control of the city of Ashdod and had fortified it, Gath, and Ashdod-Yam.

Battle of Yad Mordechai

The Battle of Yad Mordechai was fought between Egypt and Israel in the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, at the Israeli kibbutz of Yad Mordechai. The Egyptians attacked the communal village several times throughout May 19 and May 20, but failed to capture it. A final attack was launched on May 23, in which the Egyptians succeeded in capturing part of Yad Mordechai, following which the Israeli defenders withdrew.

Kal'at Al Mina is Fatimid citadel in Ashdod-Sea site on the southern coast of modern city of Ashdod. It was built during the Ancient Arab Era (640-1099). The rectangular fortress (60/40 meters) has four guard towers, one at each corner. The towers were enclosed by a wall six to seven meters high. Two huge gates in the wall gave access to the stronghold. The fortress was destroyed in earthquake in 1033.

Erez Crossing

The Erez Crossing is a pedestrian/cargo terminal on the Israeli Gaza Strip barrier. It is located in the northern end of the Gaza Strip, on the border with Israel. It is part of a complex formerly including the Erez Industrial Park. The crossing is currently restricted to Arab residents under the jurisdiction of the Palestinian Authority and to Egyptian nationals or international aid officials only. The crossing connects Israel's Highway 4 with Gaza's Salah al-Din Road.

Ashkelon Railway Station

The Ashkelon Railway Station is a railway station in Ashkelon, Israel. It is the southern terminus of the Binyamina–Tel Aviv–Ashkelon suburban line. A station has existed at the site since before the 1948 Arab-Israeli War when it was in service on the now-defunct line to Egypt. In 1992 suburban service to the Ashdod Ad Halom Railway Station began. In 2002 it was decided to double-track the Ashdod–Ashkelon railway and extend the suburban service to Ashkelon.

Battle of Nitzanim

The Battle of Nitzanim was a battle fought between the Israel Defense Forces and the Egyptian Army in the 1948 Arab–Israeli War, on June 7, 1948 (29 Iyar, 5708 in the Hebrew calendar). It was the first major Egyptian victory of the war, and one of the few cases of Israeli surrender. The battle began on the night of June 6–7 with an artillery bombardment of Nitzanim, followed by an aerial bombardment and armored and infantry attacks.

Beit Hanoun wedge

The Beit Hanoun wedge was a sliver of land around Beit Hanoun (today in the Gaza Strip) that the Israel Defense Forces captured during Operation Yoav in the final stage of the 1948 Arab–Israeli War. With this and other wedges, the Israelis hoped to divide various units in the Egyptian army's expeditionary force in Palestine as part of Operation Yoav's plan. The battles around the wedge were fought on October 15–22, 1948.

Ashkelon National Park is an Israeli national park along the shore of the Mediterranean sea southwest of the city of Ashkelon. The national park is situated in the heart of ancient Ashkelon. It is surrounded by a wall built in the mid-12th century by the Fatimid Caliphate. The wall was originally 2,200 meters in length, 50 meters in width and 15 meters in height. The remains of the wall are located in the eastern and southern parts of the national park.
