Nehora is a moshav (village) in the southern Israeli Coastal Plain about 5 km west Kiryat Gat in south-central Israel. It belongs to the Lakhish Regional Council. It is located just east of Route 352, across the road from Noga. Nehora was founded in 1955 as part of the program to inhabit Hevel Lakhish and was intended to serve as a center of services for surrounding communities. A shopping center, regional school and the offices of the Lakhish Regional Council are located there.

The Ashkelon Railway Station is a railway station in Ashkelon, Israel. It is the southern terminus of the Binyamina–Tel Aviv–Ashkelon suburban line. A station has existed at the site since before the 1948 Arab-Israeli War when it was in service on the now-defunct line to Egypt. In 1992 suburban service to the Ashdod Ad Halom Railway Station began. In 2002 it was decided to double-track the Ashdod–Ashkelon railway and extend the suburban service to Ashkelon.

Hevel Lakhish

Hevel Lakhish is an area of south-central Israel. Part of the southern Shephelah, it is located between the Judean Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea and is named after the Biblical city of Lachish. Before the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, three kibbutzim were founded in the area - Gal On, Gat and Negba. Between 1955 and 1961 twenty more settlements were established. The area is covered by three regional councils - Lakhish, Shafir and Yoav - and one city council, Kiryat Gat.

Battle of Nitzanim

The Battle of Nitzanim was a battle fought between the Israel Defense Forces and the Egyptian Army in the 1948 Arab–Israeli War, on June 7, 1948 (29 Iyar, 5708 in the Hebrew calendar). It was the first major Egyptian victory of the war, and one of the few cases of Israeli surrender. The battle began on the night of June 6–7 with an artillery bombardment of Nitzanim, followed by an aerial bombardment and armored and infantry attacks.

Bayt 'Affa

Bayt 'Affa was a Palestinian Arab village in the District of Gaza. It was depopulated during the 1947–1948 Civil War in Mandatory Palestine on January 10, 1948 as part of Operation Barak. It was located 29 km northeast of Gaza and Wadi al-Rana ran east of the village. The village had a census in 1596 which recorded 143 inhabitants in the village. In 1945 there were 700 people. The village had a khirba which contained the remains of walls made of ancient columns, uncut stones and a well.

Beit Hanoun wedge

The Beit Hanoun wedge was a sliver of land around Beit Hanoun (today in the Gaza Strip) that the Israel Defense Forces captured during Operation Yoav in the final stage of the 1948 Arab–Israeli War. With this and other wedges, the Israelis hoped to divide various units in the Egyptian army's expeditionary force in Palestine as part of Operation Yoav's plan. The battles around the wedge were fought on October 15–22, 1948.

Ashkelon National Park

Ashkelon National Park is an Israeli national park along the shore of the Mediterranean sea southwest of the city of Ashkelon. The national park is situated in the heart of ancient Ashkelon. It is surrounded by a wall built in the mid-12th century by the Fatimid Caliphate. The wall was originally 2,200 meters in length, 50 meters in width and 15 meters in height. The remains of the wall are located in the eastern and southern parts of the national park.
