Santon (parish)

Santon is a parish of the Isle of Man. It has an area of approximately 8 square miles and is the island's smallest parish, located in the sheading of Middle which is composed of the parishes of Braddan, Marown and Santon. Currently the Captain of the Parish is Donald Gelling. The parish church is St Sanctain. The parish is now popularly known as Santon instead of the older Santan (see St. Annbelow). St Sanctain's stands on the site of an ancient 1500 year old chapel Keeill - well before St.

Santon Burn

Santon Burn is a water course in the Isle of Man. This small river, or burn, has its origins in the waters of Eairy in the parish of Marown (Ordnance Survey Landranger SC296779) and enters the Irish Sea at Santon Gorge close to Cass-ny-Hawin Head and not far from the bay of Port Soldrick. The course of Santon Burn runs between the pastoral mid-island village of St. Mark's, in the parish of Malew and later via Ballalonna Glen and Fairy Bridge.

Cronk ny Merriu (English: Hill of the Dead) is one of the remains of promontory forts in the Isle of Man. Close to Port Grenaugh, this site dates back almost 2,000 years. The bank and ditch of Iron Age date created a defensive promontory fort at Cronk ny Merriu. Later, a rectangular building of Norse style and layout stood here, part of a system of coastal lookout posts.

Santon railway station

Santon Station is a request stop near Newtown in the parish of Santon, Isle of Man; it forms part of the sole remaining line of the Isle of Man Railway which once encompassed over 46 miles of network and retains its original station building. The halt played host to Santa's Grotto each December as part of the railway's Santa Trains service for many years until 2009. Seasonal services now terminate at Castletown Station.
