Constitutional Court of Hungary

The Constitutional Court of Hungary (Hungarian: Magyar Köztársaság Alkotmánybírósága) is a special court of Hungary, making judicial review of the acts of the Parliament of Hungary. The official seat of the Constitutional Court is Budapest. Until 2012 the seat was Esztergom. The Constitutional Court is composed of 15 judges since September 1, 2011 (previously, the Court was composed of 11 judges). Margaret Bridge

Margit híd or Margaret Bridge (sometimes Margit Bridge) is a bridge in Budapest, Hungary, connecting Buda and Pest across the Danube. It is the second northernmost and second oldest public bridge in Budapest. It was designed by French engineer Ernest Goüin and built by the construction company, Maison Ernest Goüin et Cie. between 1872–1876, the engineer in charge being Émile Nouguier. Margaret Bridge is the second permanent bridge in Budapest after Széchenyi Chain Bridge.

Batthyány Square is a town square in Budapest. It is located on the Buda side of the Danube directly opposite the Hungarian Parliament Building. It is named after Lajos Batthyány, the first Prime Minister of Hungary, and a statue for him was erected in 2008. Batthyány Square is noted for the Szent Anna-templom (Church of Saint Anne), a Roman Catholic church built between 1740 and 1762, and one of Budapest's most beautiful baroque buildings. The square is also known for its market hall.

Kossuth Bridge

The Kossuth Bridge or Kossuth híd was a bridge that stood over the river Danube in Budapest from 1946 January 15th to 1960. After the Soviet Red Army took Budapest in early 1945, they found all the city's five bridges had been blown up by retreating German troops. (Árpád hid was not blown-up, it was just incomplete, under construction).

Pasarét

Pasarét is a neighbourhood on the Buda side of Budapest. On the maps edited around the beginning of the nineteenth century it was called Sauwiesen (Pig-meadow) and also as Schmalzbergel (Fat-hill). (In city people spoke German as well, it was the countryside that preserved the Hungarian language). On earlier army maps simply as Ried (meadow). The Serbs (rácok) living under the castle-district also called this place pasa.

Fisherman's Bastion

The Halászbástya or Fisherman's Bastion is a terrace in neo-Gothic and neo-Romanesque style situated on the Buda bank of the Danube, on the Castle hill in Budapest, around Matthias Church. It was designed and built between 1895 and 1902 on the plans of Frigyes Schulek. Between 1947–48, the son of Frigyes Schulek, János Schulek, conducted the other restoration project after its near destruction during World War II.

Matthias Church

Matthias Church is a church located in Budapest, Hungary, in front of the Fisherman's Bastion at the heart of Buda's Castle District. According to church tradition, it was originally built in Romanesque style in 1015. The current building was constructed in the florid late Gothic style in the second half of the 14th century and was extensively restored in the late 19th century. It was the second largest church of medieval Buda and the seventh largest church of medieval Hungarian Kingdom.

Gül Baba

Gül Baba (died 1541), also known as Cafer, was an Ottoman Bektashi dervish poet and companion of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent who took part in a number of campaigns in Europe from the reign of Mehmed II onwards. A native of Merzifon, he was the son of Kutb’ül Arifin Veli’üddin İbn Yalınkılıç. In Hungary, Gül Baba is known as the "Father of Roses," indeed, that is what his names means in Turkish, and is said to have introduced the flower to the country.

Király Baths

Király Bath or Király fürdő is a thermal bath that was first built in Hungary in the second half of the sixteenth century, during the time of Ottoman rule. It still retains many of the key elements of a Turkish bath, exemplified by its Turkish dome and octagonal pool. It is located at the corner of Fő utca and Ganz utca. Its address and entrance is Fő utca 82-84 (green façade on the pictures linked to below) while the exterior of the bath proper is on Ganz utca (domed stone structure, ibidem).
