Óbuda

Óbuda (sometimes written in English as Obuda) was a historical city in Hungary. United with Buda and Pest in 1873 it now forms part of District III-Óbuda-Békásmegyer of Budapest. The name means Old Buda in Hungarian. The name in Croatian and Serbian for this city is Stari Budim, but the local Croat minority calls it Obuda (the name "Budim" they use for the fortress in Buda). The island next to this part of the city today hosts the Sziget Festival, a huge music and cultural festival.

Sziget Festival

The Sziget Festival (is the Hungarian for "Island") is one of the largest music and cultural festivals in Europe. Margaret Island

Margaret Island is a 2.5 km long island, 500 metres (550 yards) wide, (0.965 km² in area) in the middle of the Danube in central Budapest, Hungary. It belongs administratively to the 13th district. The island is mostly covered by landscape parks, and is a popular recreational area. Its medieval ruins are reminders of its importance in the Middle Ages as a religious centre. The island spans the area between the Margaret Bridge (south) and the Árpád Bridge (north).

Árpád Bridge or Árpád híd is a bridge in Budapest, Hungary, connecting northern Buda and Pest across the Danube. It is the longest bridge in Hungary, spanning about 2 km (1.24 mi) with the sections leading up to the bridge, and 928 m (0.58 mi) without them. It is 35.3 m (116 ft) wide with pedestrian and bicycle paths. At its Óbuda end is Flórián tér, Szentlélek tér.

Újpest-Városkapu (Budapest Metro)

Újpest-Városkapu (lit. Újpest City Gate) is a station on the M3 (North-South) line of the Budapest Metro. It primarily serves the extreme southwest corner of District IV and northwest District XIII. Next to the station, there is a Volánbusz bus terminal (buses from northeastern suburbs). The station and the tracks approaching it in both directions were constructed from the surface. Buildings formerly occupying the swath were not rebuilt.

Békásmegyer

Békásmegyer is a neighbourhood in Budapest, Hungary. It belongs administratively to District III. Békásmegyer is consisted of two different parts, a huge high rise housing estate and the traditional Ófalu ("Old Village") with older houses. Békásmegyer is divided into two by the Szentendre HÉV line. It was an independent village until 1 January 1950 when it was merged into Budapest. Today 41,000 people live in Békásmegyer Microdistrict and a few thousand in the former village.

Hármashatárhegy

Hármashatárhegy is the name of a mountain in the city of Budapest, Hungary. Its name comes from the fact that the borders of 3 cities met at this point in the 19th century. Today, these cities have merged into Budapest, but the mountain's name has remained unchanged. However, the border between the II and III districts still bisects the mountain. The mountain is located on the Buda side, at 495 m (1623 ft) above sea level. The mountain is a popular place for hiking, biking and paragliding.

Ferenc Szusza Stadium

Szusza Ferenc Stadium (earlier known as Megyeri úti stadion or simply Megyeri út) is a football stadium in Újpest and the home of Újpest FC. The stadium was designed by Alfréd Hajós and opened on 17 September 1922. The stadium was renovated in 2000-01; its capacity is 13,501. Újpest (German: Neu-Pest, English: New Pest) is the 4th District in Budapest, Hungary. It is located on the left bank of the Danube River. The name Újpest means "new Pest" because the city was formed on the border of the city of Pest, Hungary in 1838. Újpest was a village for 6 decades until 1907 when it became a town. Újpest Synagogue

The Újpest Synagogue is a Neolog Judaism synagogue in Újpest (New Pest), a district of Budapest, Hungary. The Romantic-style edifice was built in 1866 and holds 1,000 seats. Rabbi Sander Rosenberg from Arad officiated at the opening ceremony. Its establishment was a "great holiday" for the Jews and Christians of Újpest.
