Uhlenkrugstadion is a multi-use stadium in Essen, Germany. It is currently used mostly for football matches and serves as home ground for Schwarz-Weiß Essen. The stadium was built by its main tenant in 1922, having an initial capacity of 35,000 people and featuring a stand constructed out of iron, which was unusual at this time. In 1939, the structure was expanded to hold 45,000 people.

Museum Folkwang is a major collection of 19th and 20th century art in Essen, Germany. The museum was established in 1922 by merging the Essener Kunstmuseum, which was founded in 1906, and the private Folkwang Museum of the collector and patron Karl Ernst Osthaus in Hagen, founded in 1901. The term Folkwang derives from the name of the afterlife meadow of the dead, Fólkvangr, presided over by the Norse goddess Freyja.

Essen-Werden station
Essen-Werden is a railway station in the city of Essen in western Germany. It serves the southern city borough Werden and is situated on the bank of the river Ruhr at the junction of the Ruhr Valley Railway and the line to Essen. The station was opened in 1872 as part of the Düsseldorf-Werden-Kupferdreh line of the Bergisch-Märkische Eisenbahn. In 1877, a line to Essen opened. The line to Kupferdreh closed on May 29, 1955.

Essen Central Station
Essen Central Station (Essen Hauptbahnhof) is a railway station in the city of Essen in western Germany. It is situated south of the old town centre, next to the A 40 motorway. It was opened in 1862 by the Bergisch-Märkische Eisenbahn. However, the station was not the first in Essen: as the station called Essen on the Köln-Mindener Eisenbahn was opened in 1847. The station suffered extensive damage in World War II and was almost completely rebuilt in the 1950s and 1960s.

Essen Stadtwald is a railway station in the city of Essen in western Germany, serving the southern city borough Stadtwald. It is situated on the Essen-Werden–Essen line close to a single-track railway tunnel, the Stadtwaldtunnel. The station today sees regular service by Rhein-Ruhr S-Bahn trains on the S6 line.
Kettwig
Kettwig is the southernmost borough of the city of Essen in western Germany and, until 1975, was a town in its own right. Kettwig is situated next to the Ruhr river, at a median height of 53 metres above sea level. It is the most recently incorporated borough of Essen and also the largest in size, at 15.3 km². It belongs to the city district Stadtbezirk IX Werden/Kettwig/Bredeney and has 17,760 inhabitants as of June 2006.
Montagsloch
The so called Montagsloch in Essen was a building project during the time of National Socialism in Germany. It should have become one of the biggest stadiums in Germany. Its name probably refers to the day when 35 Russian forced labourer and maybe also some other people were killed by the Gestapo of Essen at this place. It was on March 12, 1945,a Monday . Some of the murderers were judged to long term prison sentences by a British military court in 1948.

Folkwang University of the Arts
The Folkwang University of the Arts is a German university for music, theater, dance, design, and academic studies. Since 1927, its traditional main location has been in the former Werden Abbey in Essen in the Ruhr Area, with additional facilities in Duisburg, Bochum, and Dortmund, and since 2010 at the Zeche Zollverein, a World Heritage Site. The Folkwang University is home to the international dance company Folkwang Tanz Studio (FTS).
FOM University of Applied Sciences for Economics and Management
The FOM (University of Applied Sciences for Economics and Management) is a German university. The business school is privately run, works in close co-operation with other universities, and is state recognized. With more than 21,000 students the FOM has the biggest economic and business sciences faculty in Germany. The majority of students are working professionals. The range of courses offered centers around business, business administration and engineering.
Essen Minster
Essen Minster or Essen Cathedral is the seat of the Roman Catholic Bishop of Essen, the "Diocese of the Ruhr", founded in 1958. The church, dedicated to Saints Cosmas and Damian and the Blessed Virgin Mary, stands on the Burgplatz in the centre of the city of Essen.
Villa Hügel
The Villa Hügel is a mansion in Bredeney (part of the modern city of Essen) in Germany. It belonged to the Krupp family of industrialists and was built by Alfred Krupp in 1873 as a residence. More recently, the Villa Hügel has housed the offices of the Kulturstiftung Ruhr (Ruhr Cultural Foundation) as well as an art gallery and the historical archive of the Krupp family and company.

The Botanischer Garten der Universität Duisburg-Essen (4,100 square metres) is a botanical garden maintained by the University of Duisburg-Essen on its Essen campus. It is located at Henri-Dunant-Strasse 65, Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The garden is maintained for research and educational uses, and not open to the public. The garden was established in the early 1980s by Dr. Guido Benno Feige, Professor of Botany.
Botanischer Garten Grugapark
The Botanischer Garten Grugapark is a municipal botanical garden located in the Grugapark at Virchowstraße 167a, Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is open daily; an admission fee is charged. The garden was established in 1927 for recreation, teaching, and research. Parts of the garden were destroyed in World War II but gradually rebuilt and re-designed for the Essen Bundesgartenschau of 1965.
Aalto Theatre
The Aalto Theatre (in German officially Aalto-Musiktheater Essen) is an opera house and major performing arts venue in Essen, Germany. It was opened on 25 September 1988 with Richard Wagner's opera Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. The building is mainly used for opera and ballet performances; it also serves for concerts and gala events.
Moltkeviertel
The Moltkeviertel (Moltke Quarter) is a district of the German city of Essen. It is located near the centre of the town, as the crow flies just over a kilometre to the south-east of the Essen main railway station. It is bounded by the thoroughfares Kronprinzenstrasse, Ruhrallee, Töpferstrasse and Rellinghauserstasse and by the railway line from Essen Main Station to Essen-Werden (S6 rapid transit link to Düsseldorf and Cologne).
Rüttenscheider Stern (VRR)
Rüttenscheider Stern is an underground station on the Essen Stadtbahn line U11 in Essen. The station lies on Rüttenscheider Stern in the district of Rüttenscheid. It is equipped with three-rail tracks to allow tramway cars of the lines 101 and 107 to stop at the station as well. The station was opened on June 1, 1986 and consists of two side-platform with two rail tracks. On the surface, it provides connection to the 106 tramway line.
Grillo-Theater
Grillo-Theater is a theatre in Essen, Germany. Named after the industrialist Friedrich Grillo, who made the building possible, it opened on 16 September 1892 with Lessing's drama Minna von Barnhelm. The building was badly damaged in World War II; it was restored with a much simpler façade aand re-opened in 1950 with Wagner's opera Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. Notable directors included Erwin Piscator, Jean-Louis Barrault, Heinz Dietrich Kenter, Hansgünter Heyme.
