AVUS

The Automobil-Verkehrs- und Übungsstraße ('Automobile traffic and training road'), better known as AVUS, is a public road in Berlin, Germany. Opened in 1921, it is the oldest controlled-access highway in Europe. Until 1998 it was also used as a motor racing circuit. Today the AVUS forms the northern part of the Bundesautobahn 115.

Paulsternstraße (Berlin U-Bahn)

Paulsternstraße is a station on the Berlin U-Bahn line U7. It was opened on 1 October 1984 (constructed by Rümmler), with the line's extension from Rohrdamm to Rathaus Spandau. Its name means "Paul Stern Street" in English, Paul Stern having been the name of a pub owner after whom a Spandau neighbourhood was named. The station's interiors are notable for the large and colorful mosaics which decorate almost all walls. All signs sell "Paulsternstrasse".

Olympic Stadium (Berlin)

The Olympiastadion (Olympic Stadium) is a sports stadium in Berlin, Germany. There have been two stadia on the site: the present facility, and one that is called the Deutsches Stadion which was built for the aborted 1916 Summer Olympics. Both were designed by members of the same family, the first by Otto March and the second by his son Werner March. It is the second biggest stadium in Germany behind Signal Iduna Park.

The Transmitter Stallupöner Allee, Berlin is a transmission site for medium wave radio broadcasts situated on the Stallupöner Allee ("Stallupone Avenue") in Berlin-Charlottenburg, Germany. Bell Tower of Berlin Olympic Stadium

The Bell Tower of Berlin Olympic Stadium was a 77 metres high observation tower that was built in 1934 after plans by professor Werner March. The steel skeleton construction was covered with limestone plates. After the Second World War the Soviet troops accidentally set the tower's contents on fire and it was no longer stable. Therefore the British engineers blew it up in 1947.

Deutschlandhalle

Deutschlandhalle was an arena in the Westend neighbourhood of Berlin, Germany. It was inaugurated on 29 November 1935 by Adolf Hitler. The building was granted landmark status in 1995, but on December 3, 2011, the building was demolished. Built primarily for the 1936 Summer Olympics, the Deutschlandhalle could hold 8,764 people. The Olympic boxing, weightlifting and wrestling competitions took place here.

The Berlin 1939-1945 Commonwealth War Graves Commission cemetery is one of two Commonwealth cemeteries in Berlin, the other being the World War I Berlin South-Western Cemetery in Stahnsdorf, Brandenburg. The Berlin 1939-1945 Commonwealth Cemetery was established in 1945 as a central burial ground for aircrew and prisoners of war who were interred in the Berlin area and in East Germany. The station is situated on the street of the same name, the major thoroughfare from Berlin's inner city to the west. The street led to the former proving grounds in Döberitz, thus the name Heer (land army) stems from the passing Guards Corps of the Imperial German Army. St. George's Anglican Church, Berlin

St. George's Church (Englische Kirche zu St. Georg between 1885 and 1944) is an Anglican church in Berlin, Germany, a parish of the Diocese in Europe of the Church of England. The original building was erected on Monbijou Park in 1885, but was destroyed in the allied Bombing of Berlin in World War II. The original site on Oranienburger Straße happened to be in what had become the Soviet sector of Berlin in 1945 and was therefore abandoned and the ruins removed in 1949.

2013 Berlin helicopter crash

On 21 March 2013 around 10:30 CET, two helicopters of the German Federal Police collided in front of the Olympic Stadium in Berlin. Amid a large-scale training exercise, one helicopter apparently had landed on top of the other in snowy weather. The accident left one pilot dead and injured several other persons.
