Curt Frenzel Stadium

The Curt Frenzel Stadium is an arena in Augsburg, Germany. It is primarily used for ice hockey and is the home arena of the Augsburger Panther. It holds 7,774 people. It was renamed in 1971 after Curt Frenzel, club president of the Panther, who died in 1970. Wertach (river)

The Wertach is a river in Bavaria, southern Germany, left tributary of the Lech. Its total length is 151 km. The Wertach originates in the Northern Limestone Alps, in Bad Hindelang, east of Sonthofen. It flows north along the towns Wertach, Nesselwang, Marktoberdorf, Kaufbeuren, Schwabmünchen and Bobingen. The Wertach flows into the Lech (itself a tributary of the Danube) in Augsburg.

Pfersee is a part of the city of Augsburg, Bavaria with some 25.000 inhabitants on the western shore of river Wertach. In 1911 Pfersee was incorporated to Augsburg. The name Pfersee probably derives from “fert” (Furt), meaning a ford (crossing). Pfersee is first mentioned in 8th century, but there also are important archeological findings such as a brazen horse-head which was part of an equestrian statue, probably dedicated to emperor Hadrian.
