Touraine

Notable for its historic towns, architecture and wines, the valley has been inhabited since the Middle Palaeolithic period.
Château de la Bourdaisière
The Château de la Bourdaisière is a castle in the countryside in the Commune of Montlouis-sur-Loire, in the Indre-et-Loire département of France. Its origins date back to the 14th century when it was a fortress belonging to Jean Meingre. Over the next few generations, the property changed hands several time, until 1520 when King Francis I arranged for construction of a new castle on the site.

Saint Gatien's Cathedral is the Roman Catholic cathedral church of the Tours diocese and the metropolitan cathedral of the Tours ecclesiastic province, in Indre-et-Loire, France. Saint-Gatien's Cathedral was built between 1170 and 1547. At the time construction began, it was located at the south end of the bridge over the Loire, on the road from Paris to the south-west of France. It has been a classified Monument historique since 1862.

Château de Plessis-lez-Tours
The Château de Plessis-lez-Tours is the remains of a late Gothic château located in the town of La Riche in the Indre-et-Loire department, in the Loire Valley of France. Around three fourths of the former royal residence were pulled down during the French Revolution in 1796. Plessis-lez-Tours was the favorite residence of King Louis XI of France, who died there on 30 August 1483.

The Jardin botanique de Tours (5 hectares) is a municipal botanical garden and arboretum located at 33, Boulevard Tonnellé, Tours, Indre-et-Loire, Centre, France. It is open daily; admission is free. The garden was established by public subscription in 1843 at the initiative of pharmacist Jean-Anthyme Margueron (1771-1848), and is the oldest public garden in the city.

Basilica of St. Martin is a Roman Catholic basilica dedicated to Saint Martin of Tours, on whose tomb it was built. It is located in Tours, France. It was built to replace an earlier basilica, built in the Middle Ages and thoroughly demolished during the French Revolution. The basilica was built between 1886 and 1924 by French architect Victor Laloux in a neo-Byzantine style, on part of the site of the original Basilica which was repurchased by the Church. It was dedicated July 4, 1925.

Tours Aerodrome
Tours Aerodrome was a complex of military airfields in the French department of Indre-et-Loire, 6 km (3.2 NM) north-northeast of the city of Tours. They were used during World War I as part of the Second Air Instructional Center (2d AIC), American Expeditionary Forces for training United States airmen prior to being sent into combat. Today Tours Airdrome #1 airfield is Tours Val de Loire Airport (Base Aérienne 604).
