Otaniemi

Otaniemi, or Otnäs, is a district of Espoo, Finland. It is located near the border of Helsinki, the capital of Finland. Otaniemi is the home of the Helsinki University of Technology (TKK) campus; "Otaniemi" is often used as a synonym for TKK. However, several research and business facilities are also located in Otaniemi.

Lauttasaari

Lauttasaari is an island and neighbourhood of Western Helsinki (Helsingfors in Swedish), about 3 kilometres west of the city centre. With a population of 20,000 as of January 2010, Lauttasaari is primarily a residential area but also contains services, including several marinas and canoe clubs. Although close to the city centre, Lauttasaari is noted for its preserved forest areas and rocky outcrops.

Mäntyniemi

Mäntyniemi is one of the three official residences of the President of Finland besides the Presidential Palace and Kultaranta. Mäntyniemi was finished in 1993. Four Finnish presidents have lived there: Mauno Koivisto, Martti Ahtisaari, Tarja Halonen, and the incumbent Sauli Niinistö. When president Urho Kekkonen resigned in 1981 due to a serious illness, he stayed in the then official residence Tamminiemi until his death in 1986.

Helsinki University Central Hospital

Helsinki University Central Hospital (HUCH; in Finnish, Helsingin seudun yliopistollinen keskussairaala or HYKS; in Swedish, Helsingfors universitets centralsjukhus) is the largest university hospital in Finland. Meilahti

Meilahti is a neighbourhood of Helsinki between Mannerheimintie (the main entrance road to Helsinki) and a bay named Seurasaarenselkä. Most of the houses in Meilahti were built in the 1930s and 1940s. Meilahti is home to over 6700 people, including Sauli Niinistö, the President of Finland, who lives in Mäntyniemi, the President's official residence. Jyrki Katainen, the Prime Minister of Finland, also has an official residence in Meilahti, namely Kesäranta.

Seurasaari

Seurasaari is an island and a district in Helsinki, Finland, known mostly as the location of the Seurasaari Open-Air Museum, which consists of old, mainly wooden buildings transplanted from elsewhere in Finland and placed in the dense forest landscape of the island. Every summer, many Helsinkians come to Seurasaari to enjoy the rural, peaceful outdoor atmosphere. Despite the visitors, the island has a variety of wildlife, especially birds, but also red squirrels and hares.

Kaapelitehdas

Kaapelitehdas (Finnish for "the Cable Factory", also called simply Kaapeli, Swedish: Kabelfabriken) is a famous building in Ruoholahti, Helsinki, near the bridge to Lauttasaari. The building was originally constructed as a cable factory in 1939–1954 for Suomen Kaapelitehdas Oy (Finnish Cable Works), hence the name. Cable manufacturing started in 1943 and was discontinued in 1987. Suomen Kaapelitehdas was acquired by Suomen Gummitehdas Oy (Finnish Rubber Works) in 1922.

Tamminiemi (Villa Ekudden in Swedish), is a villa located in the Meilahti district of Helsinki. It was one of the official residences of the President of Finland from 1940 until 1981. From that date, until his death, it served as the residence of President Urho Kekkonen. It is now the Urho Kekkonen Museum. It is located in a park by the sea. Tamminiemi's floor area is about 450 square metres.

Fortum head office

The Fortum head office is a high-rise office building located in Espoo, just outside Helsinki, the capital of Finland. With a height of 84 metres (274 feet), it is currently the second tallest habitable building in Finland. The building houses the head office of Fortum, an energy company owned primarily by the Finnish state. It was constructed between 1973 and 1978, while Uolevi Raade was the manager of Neste, which merged and later demerged with Imatran Voima, the predecessor of Fortum.

Kesäranta

Kesäranta (in Swedish Villa Bjälbo) is the official residence of the Prime Minister of Finland. It is located in the Meilahti area of Helsinki, overlooking a bay on the north-west side of the city. The Finnish name Kesäranta means "summer shore". The residence is owned by the Finnish state through Senate Properties. Designed and built in 1873 as the summer villa of architect Frans Ludvig Calonius, the building was originally named Villa Bjälbo.

Keilaniemi is a district in the south-eastern part of Espoo, Finland. The Nokia head office is the head office building of Nokia Corporation, located in Keilaniemi, Espoo, just outside Helsinki, the capital of Finland. The building itself is named The Nokia House. The two most southern parts of the building were built in the early 1990s and the third most northern part was built in 2000. Salmisaari

Salmisaari is a small area (a sector, pienalue) belonging to the Ruoholahti quarter of the Länsisatama neighbourhood of Helsinki, Finland. The Salmisaari island was previously located west of the Helsinginniemi peninsula. However, during the early times of Länsisatama, it was annexed to the mainland by filling the sea in between. The area of Salmisaari has been named after this island. Since 1953, Salmisaari has included the Salmisaari power plant, owned by Helsingin Energia.
