Zaolzie

Zaolzie is the Polish name for an area now in the Czech Republic which was disputed between interwar Poland and Czechoslovakia. The name means "lands beyond the Olza River"; it is also called Śląsk zaolziański, meaning "trans-Olza Silesia". Equivalent terms in other languages include Zaolší (Zaolží) in Czech and Olsa-Gebiet in German. The Zaolzie region was created in 1920, when Cieszyn Silesia was divided between Czechoslovakia and Poland.

is a village in the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic. It has 4,202 inhabitants (2001 census) and Poles constitute 12.9% of the population. It lies in the historical region of Cieszyn Silesia. The village is made up of three administrative sections (formerly independent villages): Dolní Těrlicko, Horní Těrlicko (Cierlicko Górne), Hradiště (Grodziszcze). Among other parts of municipality there is also a former village of Kostelec (Kościelec).

Těrlicko Dam

Těrlicko Dam (Czech: Těrlická přehrada, Vodní nádrž Těrlicko, Polish: Zalew Cierlicki, Zapora wodna Cierlicko) is a water reservoir and dam in Těrlicko, Moravian-Silesian Region, Czech Republic. Its surface is 2.66 km², dam is built on a Stonávka River. It was constructed in 1955-1962. Construction of the dam had major impact on the village. 141 buildings were sunk, including many community buildings and also a church.

Žermanice Dam

Žermanice Dam (Czech: Žermanická přehrada, Vodní nádrž Žermanice) is a water reservoir and dam near Žermanice, Moravian-Silesian Region, Czech Republic. The dam is built on the Lučina River and has a surface of 2.48 km². It was constructed from 1951-1958. Nearby villages of Dolní Domaslavice, Lučina, Soběšovice, Žermanice, as well as the dam are a popular spots for water sports and other recreational activities. The dam is also used to supply water for factories in Ostrava and Paskov.
