Vyšehrad cemetery

Vyšehrad

Vyšehrad is a historical fort located in the city of Prague, Czech Republic. It was probably built in the 10th century, on a hill over the Vltava River. Situated within the castle is the Basilica of St Peter and St Paul, as well as the Vyšehrad Cemetery, containing the remains of many famous people from Czech history, among them Antonín Dvořák, Bedřich Smetana, Karel Čapek, and Alphonse Mucha. It also contains Prague's oldest surviving building, the Rotunda of St Martin from the 11th century.

Basilica of St Peter and St Paul

The Basilica of St Peter and St Paul is a neo-Gothic church in Vyšehrad fortress in Prague, Czech Republic. Originally founded in 1070-1080 by the Czech King Vratislav II, the Romanesque basilica suffered a fire in the year 1249 and has been rebuilt in gotic and later in neo-Gothic style. The basilica features an impressive stone mosaic above its entry, and its twin 58 m towers can be seen atop a hill to the south from along the Vltava River in central Prague.

Barrandov Studios

Barrandov Studios is a famous set of film studios in Prague, Czech Republic. It is the largest film studio in the country and one of the largest in Europe. Several of the movies filmed there won Oscars. At present the studios are often called the "European Hollywood" or "Hollywood of the East" due to increasing interest of western productions. Noted director Roman Polanski claims Barrandov is the world’s best studio. The studios make an annual award of the Golden Trilobite (Zlaté Trilobit).

Nusle Bridge

Nusle Bridge is a prestressed concrete viaduct in Prague, passing over the district of Nusle in Prague 4. It spans the Nusle Valley and connects the Pankrác district and south-eastern parts of the city, as well as the D1 motorway with the central part of the city. Below the six-lane highway on the surface, the section of Prague Metro Line C between I.P. Pavlova and Vyšehrad stations runs inside the bridge. Construction began in 1967, and it opened on February 22, 1973.

Anděl (neighborhood)

Anděl is a busy crossing and its immediate neighbourhood in Prague 5's central quarter of Smíchov. The name means angel in the Czech language and originates from the 19th century U zlatého anděla (Golden Angel) pub originally named after an angel statue in front of it. The pub's awning painting of an angel was preserved after its demolition and is now displayed nearby. Anděl is an important traffic center.

The Antonín Dvořák Museum in Prague is a museum dedicated to the great Czech composer Antonín Dvořák (1841-1904). It is part of the Czech Museum of Music which in turn is part of the complex of the National Museum. Smíchov – Hostivice railway line

The Smíchov - Hostivice railway line or Prague Semmering is a railway line in the Czech Republic. The line was built in 1868–1872 by the Buštěhrad Railway company as part of its connection between Prague and Chomutov. The line was opened for cargo transport on 3 July 1872. It was used to transport coal and wood to Prague. Transport of passengers followed on 16 September 1872.

Emmaus Monastery

The Emmaus monastery is an abbey established in 1347 in Prague. The area was destined to become the only Benedictine monastery of the Bohemian kingdom and all Slavic Europe. During WWII the monastery was seized by the Gestapo and the monks were sent to Dachau concentration camp, then in February 1945 it was almost destroyed by American bombing raid on Prague on 14 February 1945. The modern roof with steeples was added in the 1960s.

Palacký Bridge

The Palacký Bridge (1876) is a bridge in Prague. It is one of the oldest functioning bridges over the Vltava in Prague after the Charles Bridge. It was built as the third major bridge shortly after the 1868 opening of the Franz Joseph I Suspension Bridge, designed by Rowland Mason Ordish which was damaged in 1941 and dismantled in 1946. Josef Václav Myslbek created statues of four pairs of legendary couples for the bridge. These were later removed to the grounds of the Vyšehrad.

The Psychiatric Clinic in Prague is the oldest psychiatric hospital in the Czech Republic. Part of Prague's General Faculty Hospital, the clinic has five inpatient wards and also provides integrated day treatment. An expansion in 2000 added a day care centre for adolescents.
