Desamparados is the name of the 3rd canton in the province of San José in Costa Rica. The canton covers an area of 118.26 km², and has a population of 206,708, making it the third most populated among the 81 cantons of Costa Rica. The capital city of the canton is also called Desamparados. The canton begins in the southern suburbs of the national capital city of San José, with the Río Tiribí marking its northern boundary.

Orosi is a town in the Cartago Province in Costa Rica, about 35 kilometers south of the capital San José. Orosi is situated on the Reventazón River in the Orosi Valley. San Marcos or San Marcos de Tarrazú is the capital city of the canton of Tarrazú in the province of San José in Costa Rica. It is also the name of the distrito (district) that includes the city. The district of San Marcos covers an area of 42.07 km², and has a population of 8,817. The city lies at an elevation of 1,429 meters above sea level in a mountainous area known as Los Santos, 70 kilometers south of the national capital city of San José.
Dota is the name of the 17th canton in the province of San José in Costa Rica. The canton covers an area of 400.22 square kilometres, and has a population of 6,940 (estimate as of 2003). The capital city of the canton is Santa María. The canton is delineated by the Río Savegre on the south and southeast, the Río Naranjo on the west and the Cordillera de Talamanca on the north and northeast.
Aserrí is the name of the 6th canton in the province of San José in Costa Rica. The canton covers an area of 167.10 km², and has a population of 52,808. The capital city of the canton is also called Aserrí. The mountainous canton is delineated on the north by the Río Poás. It encompasses a narrow strip of land that traverses the Coastal Mountain Range before reaching the lowlands of Puntarenas Province, bordering the canton of Parrita.
Tarrazú is the name of the 5th canton in the province of San José in Costa Rica. The canton covers an area of 297.50 km², and has a population of 15,142. The capital city of the canton is San Marcos. The Río Pirrís (also known as Río Parrita) establishes much of the northern boundary of the three-pronged canton, which reaches south across the Coastal Mountain Range to its border with the canton of Aguirre in Puntarenas Province.
