Meech Lake

Meech Lake is located within Gatineau Park in the Municipality of Chelsea, Quebec, Canada (about 20 km NW of Gatineau). The lake was named after Reverend Asa Meech, an early settler in this area. Near the lake, on Meech Creek, are the ruins of a fertilizer plant built by Thomas "Carbide" Willson during the 1900s. In 1981, Willson's former summer home (the Willson House) on Meech Lake was converted into a government conference centre.

The Farm is the official residence of the Speaker of the Canadian House of Commons. It is located in Gatineau Park in the community of Kingsmere, part of Chelsea, Quebec, Canada, near the capital Ottawa. The residence is so named because of its history as an old farmstead dating back to the 19th century. Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King privately purchased the farmstead as part of his country estate at Kingsmere Lake in 1927.

Ryan Tower

Ryan Tower was a 228.9 metres tall guyed mast on the Clifford Slope of Camp Fortune in Chelsea, Quebec, Canada. Erected (using a helicopter) in 1961, sponsored by CFRA-FM owner, Frank Ryan, its top was 580 metres above sea level, making it the highest point in the Ottawa/Gatineau area and was an easy-to-spot landmark.

Casino du Lac-Leamy

The Casino du Lac-Leamy (formerly the Casino de Hull) is a government run casino in Gatineau, Quebec. The casino was opened in 1996, the third of a group of casinos built by the provincial government to raise funds. Ottawa, the larger city across the river, was also planning to build a casino in the early 1990s, but these plans were blocked by the provincial government. The Gatineau casino thus also serves Ottawa and eastern Ontario.

Leamy Lake

Leamy Lake is a lake in the Hull sector of Gatineau, Quebec, Canada. The lake is located just to the south of the Gatineau River, and just west of the Ottawa River, and is linked to both of them with flowing in from the Gatineau and exiting to the Ottawa. To the south is the Lac de la Carrière, a former quarry that is now a lake that is also linked. The lake is named after Andrew Leamy, an Irish settler in the region who operated a mill near the lake.

Camp Fortune

Camp Fortune is a commercial alpine ski centre. It is located in the Gatineau Hills north of Gatineau, Quebec, approximately 15 minutes from Downtown Ottawa, Ontario. Ryan Tower, was a 228.9 metre (750 feet) tall guyed mast that was built in 1961, was located at the summit of the Clifford slope. The tower was taken down on Sunday, November 4, 2012 and its functions were transferred to a new, nearby replacement tower.
