The Mississippi River is a tributary of the Ottawa River in eastern Ontario in Canada. It is 200 kilometres in length from its source in Upper Mazinaw Lake, has a drainage area of 4,450 square kilometres, and has a mean discharge of 40 cubic metres per second . There are more than 250 lakes in the watershed. From its headwaters at Mazinaw Lake to its confluence at the Ottawa River near Fitzroy Harbour the river drops 323 metres in elevation.

Fitzroy is an historic township originally part of Carleton County in eastern Ontario, Canada. Fitzroy was located in the western part of the county, bordered to the northeast by Torbolton Township, to the southeast by Huntley Township, to the southwest by Pakenham Township and to the northwest by the Ottawa River. The township was established in 1823. The first permanent settler is believed to have been Charles Shirreff around 1818. Shirreff founded the settlement of Fitzroy Harbour in 1831.

Fitzroy Harbour, Ontario

Fitzroy Harbour is a small village within the city of Ottawa in eastern Ontario, Canada. It is located on the Ottawa River at the mouth of the Carp River. A branch of the Mississippi River, known as the Snye, also empties into the Ottawa to the west of the village. The town was founded by Charles Shirreff in 1831. There was a waterfall known as Chats Falls on the river here, later replaced by a hydroelectric power station and dam, currently operated by Ontario Power Generation.

Galetta is a village in eastern Ontario, Canada, located on the Mississippi River near its mouth in the Ottawa River. Once part of Fitzroy Township and later West Carleton, it is now part of the city of Ottawa. The area was first settled in 1823. It was originally named Hubbell's Falls after James Hubbell, then Steen's Falls after James Steen who built a mill here, and finally Galetta in 1873 after James Galetti Whyte who also built mills on the river here.

The O'Brien Theatre is a historic cinema in the town of Arnprior, Ontario. Arnprior's first cinema opened on the site in 1906, and the current building dates from 1919. It was originally both a cinema and venue for vaudeville performances. With the growth in popularity of films the building renovated and became a full time cinema in 1929. It was owned by the O'Brien Entertainment Corporation, which owned a number of cinemas in the Ottawa Valley.

Arnprior Solar Generating Station

The Arnprior Solar Project is a 23.4 MW solar farm located near the town of near Arnprior, Ontario, Canada. It was developed and is owned by EDF EN Canada and is operated by EDF Renewable Services, both units of EDF Energies Nouvelles.
