Brock University
Brock University is a public comprehensive university located in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. It is the only university in Canada that is located in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, located at the center of Canada's Niagara Peninsula on the Niagara Escarpment. The university bears the name of Maj. -General Sir Isaac Brock, who was responsible for defending Upper Canada against the United States during the War of 1812.
Welland Recreational Waterway
The Welland Recreational Waterway is a water channel in the city of Welland, Ontario, Canada. It is an old alignment of the Welland Ship Canal that has been abandoned after the construction of the Welland By-Pass in the 1970s. The Waterway is now managed by the Welland Recreational Canal Corporation to provide enjoyment for the city's residents. Most local residents refer to it as the old canal or simply the canal.
Lake Gibson
Lake Gibson is a lake near Thorold, Ontario, Canada. The lake is not natural, but rather was created as a reservoir for hydroelectric power generation at the Ontario Power Generation Decew Falls 1 and Decew Falls 2 generating stations. The lake was created by flooding the shallow valley of Beaverdams Creek. Lake Moodie is located to the northwest of Lake Gibson and is a smaller segment of the overall Lake Gibson system.

Short Hills Raid
The Short Hills Raid was a raid by the Hunter Patriots on the Niagara Peninsula from June 21 to June 23, 1838, during the Upper Canada Rebellion. On June 10, 1838 in Pelham, Ontario, James Morreau led a rebel raiding party of 26 Hunter Patriots across the Niagara River. Morreau was aided by Samuel Chandler and reached St. Johns later that day. Their intention was to get the Iroquois to rise up in rebellion.
DeCou House
DeCew House (variably spelt DeCow, Du Coo or DeCou) was built by John DeCew, c.1808, in Thorold Township, Upper Canada. The two story house had limestone walls 66 centimetres thick. DeCew was a captain in the 2nd Lincoln Militia during the War of 1812, and also spent almost a year as a prisoner of war. During his absence, his house was used by the British army as a detachment headquarters under the command of Lieutenant James FitzGibbon.
