The Toronto Zoo is a zoo located in Toronto, Canada. Rouge Park is a park located in the Rouge River watershed, along the border of Toronto and Pickering, Ontario, Canada. An effort has been made to nationalize it; if successful, the park will be Canada's first national park within a municipality. The lands now in the park were once home to resorts and cottages from the late 19th century to the 1950s.
Highland Creek, Toronto
Highland Creek is a neighbourhood in south-east Scarborough in Toronto, Ontario, Canada that lies along the southern portion of the river of the same name. To the east are the neighbourhoods of Port Union and West Rouge, to the west West Hill and Woburn, and to the south Centennial Scarborough. The western portion of the neighbourhood is occupied by the University of Toronto Scarborough, a feature landmark in the area and a busy pedestrian centre.
Rouge River Bridge
Rouge River Bridge is a series of 170 metres spans carrying traffic on Highway 401 (Ontario) over the Rouge River (Ontario). It is technically not a single bridge, but rather several spans of highway overpasses over the Rouge River. Parts of the original bridges (built 1941-1942) during the initial construction of Highway 401 remain next to the spans added after the 1970s.
Beare Road Landfill
The Beare Road Landfill was a landfill that operated in Scarborough, Ontario until 1983. The site is bounded by Finch Avenue East to the north, the Toronto-Pickering Town Line to the east, CN Rail line to the west and hydro corridor to the south. Metropolitan Toronto opened the Beare Road Landfill Site in 1967 with the approval of Scarborough Council. The 80.5-hectare site, originally with a capacity of 3.3 million tonnes, received solid waste through 1988.
