Plovdiv
Plovdiv is the second-largest city in Bulgaria after the capital Sofia with a population of 338,153 inhabitants as of February 2011. It is the administrative center of Plovdiv Province and the municipalities of the City of Plovdiv, Maritsa municipality and Rodopi municipality, whose municipal body had a population of 403,153 inhabitants as of February 2011.
Battle of Philippopolis (1878)
The Battle of Philippopolis or Battle of Plovdiv was one of the final battles of the 1877-1878 Russo-Turkish War. Following the crushing Russian victory at the last battle of Shipka Pass, Russian commander Gen. Joseph Vladimirovich Gourko began to move southeast towards Constantinople. Blocking the route was the Ottoman fortress at Plovdiv under Suleiman Pasha. On January 17, 1878, a squadron of Russian dragoons led by Capt. Burago stormed the city.
Battle of Philippopolis (250)
The Battle of Philippopolis was fought in 250 AD between Rome and the Goths. The Goths were led by King Cniva, and after a long siege, they were victorious. The king subsequently allied himself with the town commander and governor of Thrace, Lucius Priscus, to take on the Roman Emperor Decius. The battle took place at the Thracian city of Philippopolis, modern Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

Plovdiv Roman theatre
The ancient theatre of Philippopolis is a historical building in the city center of Plovdiv (ancient Philippopolis), Bulgaria. Although this structure is commonly referred to as an amphitheatre, it is actually a traditional Roman theatre. It stands between the south-western slope of the Dzhambaz Tepe and the Taxim tepe hill within the old town, and is a major tourist attraction for travelers coming to the area.
Church of St Constantine and Helena
The Church of St Constantine and Helena (Bulgarian: Св. Св. Константин и Елена) is a church in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. It is considered to be among the oldest churches in the city. It was built in 337 at the sight of an ancient pagan temple in the acropolis on one of the fortified hills. The church was named after Emperor Constantine the Great and his mother Elena. During the years, the building was destroyed and rebuilt several times.

Co-cathedral of the Diocese of Sofia and Plovdiv together with the Cathedral of St Joseph in Sofia, it is one of the largest and most important Roman Catholic places of worship in the country. It was named after Louis IX of France, commonly known as "Saint Louis".

The Church of the Holy Mother of God (Bulgarian: Църква Света Богородица) is a Bulgarian National Revival church in Bulgaria's second largest city Plovdiv. The church is situated in the Old town of Plovdiv on one of the city's seven hills, Nebet Tepe. A small church existed on that place since the 9th century. The church was renovated in 1186 by the bishop of Plovdiv Constantine Pantehi and it became part of a monastery.

The Plovdiv Regional Ethnographic Museum (Bulgarian: Регионален етнографски музей — Пловдив, Regionalen etnografski muzey — Plovdiv) is a museum of ethnography in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Since 1938, it has occupied the 1847 house of the rich merchant Argir Kuyumdzhioglu in the city's Old Town. The museum features six exhibitions, each occupying a separate room.
