Capital Governorate, Bahrain
The Capital Governorate is one of the five governorates of Bahrain. The governorate covers Manama, the capital of Bahrain.
Bahrain Bourse
The Bahrain Stock Exchange (BSE) was established in 1987 by Amiri Decree No.(4) and officially commenced operations on June 17, 1989, with 29 listed companies. Currently, there are 50 companies listed on the exchange. The BSE operates as an autonomous institution supervised by an independent Board of Directors, chaired by the Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain.
Khamis, Bahrain
Khamis is a place located between Salmaniya and Isa town in the island kingdom of Bahrain. It is largely a residential area with a number of shops and business establishments. It is also the site of the Khamis Mosque, which is the first Islamic mosque in Bahrain.
Khamis Mosque
The Khamis Mosque is believed to be the first mosque in Bahrain, built during the era of the Umayyad caliph Umar II. According to Al Wasat journalist Kassim Hussain, other sources mention that it was build in a later era during the rule of Uyunids with one minaret. The second was built two centuries later during the rule of Usfurids. The identical twin minarets of this ancient Islamic monument make it easily noticeable as one drives along the Shaikh Salman Road in Khamis.

Al Fateh Grand Mosque
The Al-Fateh Mosque (also known as Al-Fateh Islamic Center & Al Fateh Grand Mosque) is one of the largest mosques in the world, encompassing 6,500 square meters and having the capacity to accommodate over 7,000 worshippers at a time. The mosque is the largest place of worship in Bahrain. It is located next to the King Faisal Highway in Juffair, which is a town located in the capital city of Manama. The huge dome built on top of the Al-Fatih Mosque is constructed entirely of fiberglass.
Bab Al Bahrain
Bab Al Bahrain is a historical building located in the Customs Square in Manama's former central business district. It marks the main entrance to the Manama souq. Designed by Sir Charles Belgrave, adviser to the Emir and completed in 1945, Bab Al Bahrain once stood close to the water's edge. Due to extensive land reclamation in the later years, the sea is located a few kilometres north.
Sacred Heart Church (Manama, Bahrain)
The Sacred Heart Church is a Roman Catholic parish in Manama, Bahrain. The church is one of only two catholic churches in Bahrain (the other being the Catholic Church of Our Lady of the Visitation in Awali). The Sacred Heart Church serves an estimated 140,000 people. The parish priest is Fr. Uldarico Camus.
Al Ahli Stadium (Bahrain)
Al Ahli Stadium is a multi-use stadium in the Zinj district of the city of Manama, in Bahrain. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Al-Ahli. The stadium holds 10,000 people. The stadium also occasionally hosts concerts.
Bilad Al Qadeem
Bilad al-Qadeem is a town in Bahrain. It has now been incorporated into a suburb of Manama, situated next to Zinj. Prior to the Portuguese invasion in 1519 it served as the capital of Bahrain and did so again later during Safavid rule in the seventeenth century. It was traditionally a centre for Usuli theological thought and had a long standing rivalry with the Akhbari centre of Diraz.
Tubli Bay
Tubli Bay (also known as the Gulf of Tubli) is a bay in the east of Bahrain, between Bahrain Island and Sitra island. The body of water is directly south of the Manama peninsula. The island of Nabih Saleh lies in the bay. The area was known for its rich marine and bird life, and the mangrove forests around its borders. The mangroves thrived on the run-off of water of freshwater springs after it passed through farms into the bay. The bay is a major breeding ground for shrimp and fishes.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Bahrain)
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the Bahraini government ministry which oversees the international relations of Bahrain. In April 2012, King Hamad appointed Ghanim Al Buainain, leader of the Salafist Al Asalah party, as the new Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
College of Health Sciences, Bahrain
The College of Health Sciences is a publicly run higher education institution in Bahrain. By 1959, a small School of Nursing was established in Bahrain in order to train nurses locally. The College of Health Sciences itself was established in 1976. It educates and trains health professionals in Nursing and Allied Health under the auspices of the Ministry of Health in Bahrain. Students from other countries in the Gulf region also study at the College.
Pearl Roundabout
Pearl Roundabout or Lulu Roundabout was a roundabout located near the financial district of Manama, Bahrain. The roundabout was named after the pearl monument that previously stood on the site and was destroyed on March 18, 2011, by government forces as part of a crackdown on protesters during the Bahraini uprising (2011–present). However, Al Wasat mentioned since 2004 that the roundabout will be removed to ease traffic when budget allocated before 2013(Al Wasat).

Al-Qudaibiya Palace
Al-Qudaibiya Palace or Gudaibiya Palace is a palace in Gudaibiya, Manama, Bahrain. Located off Bani Otbah Avenue and Al Fatih Highway, it lies west of the Al Fateh Grand Mosque and southwest of the Old Palace of Manama and the Andalus Garden and Manama Cemetery. It is a light pink palace with a pearl-coloured, onion-shaped dome.
Ministry of Interior (Bahrain)
The Ministry of the Interior is the Interior ministry of Bahrain. It is responsible for law enforcement and public safety in Bahrain. The headquarter of the ministry is at the Diwan Fort (also known as Manama Fort) in Manama, colloquially referred to as "al-gal'aa". The current interior minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa has been in office since 2004. He is a member of the Al Khalifa royal family and a cousin of King Hamad.
National Security Agency (Bahrain)
The National Security Agency or National Security Apparatus is an investigating authority in Bahrain that is associated with but not formally part of the Ministry of the Interior. The NSA was formed after King Hamad issued Decree No. 14 of 2002 declaring it as the replacement of the General Directorate for State Security Investigations. The NSA was granted the power to make arrests by a 2008 Royal Decree, and lost this power in 2011, again by Royal Decree.
Special Security Force Command
The Special Security Force Command is a paramilitary law enforcement body in Bahrain under the command of the National Security Agency, associated with the Ministry of the Interior. The SSFC is more commonly referred to as the "Special Security Forces", the "Special Forces", "Bahrain Special Security Forces (BSSF) or as the "riot police". A majority of the personnel of the SSFC are recruited from outside of Bahrain, from Arab countries like Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Syria and Pakistan.
Al Zamil Tower
Al Zamil Tower is a skyscraper in Fereej Al Fadhel, Manama, Bahrain, located opposite the Bahrain Sheraton, Manama and just across from Government House. Built in 2005, the 21-storey tower covers 16,893 square metres of space and has parking facilities for 154 cars. It won the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 2007.
Public Security Forces
The Public Security Forces (PSF), formerly known as the Bahrain State Police, are the principal Bahraini law enforcement arm of the Ministry of Interior. They are commanded by Tarek Al Hasan and include all Ministry of Interior field units responsible for maintaining order and security in Bahrain.
Mina Salman
Mina Salman is a seaport located in Manama, Bahrain. Mina Salman was a natural harbour prior to the establishment in 1962 of the port covering 80 hectares. It is the primary cargo port and customs point of Bahrain. The port has 15 container berths, enabling it to handle 2.5 million tonnes a year.

Sitra Causeway
The Sitra Causeway consists of a series of bridges and causeways constructed in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The causeway connects the island of Nabih Saleh and Sitra, to the capital city Manama across Tubli Bay. Originally constructed in the early 1970s, a $266 million reconstruction plan was announced in 2006 which involved building two new bridges as well as reconstructing the Umm Al Hassam traffic junction, in order to ease traffic. The project was finished in mid-2010, a year after schedule.
Abu Baham
Abu Baham is a small village situated in the northern region of the Kingdom of Bahrain, on the western outskirts of the capital city Manama. The village lies under the Northern Governorate administrative region. The village lies directly south of Al Musalla, west of the village of Khamis and east of Sehla.
