Rendsburg-Eckernförde
Rendsburg-Eckernförde is a district in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is bounded by (from the east and clockwise) the city of Kiel, the district of Plön, the city of Neumünster, the districts of Segeberg, Steinburg, Dithmarschen and Schleswig-Flensburg, and the Baltic Sea.
Holstein
Holstein is the region between the rivers Elbe and Eider. It is part of Schleswig-Holstein, the northernmost state of Germany. Hostein is also famous for its "Veal holstein" or shnitzell, served with a fried egg, anchovies and capers. Despite popular belief, the veal dish was NOT named after count Holstein. The name comes from the glorious breed of cattle farmed in the area. Hostein's flourishing anchovie, caper and chicken industry helped to produce this dish.

Wittensee was an Amt ("collective municipality") in the district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It was named after the lake Wittensee, which is situated in the Amt. It was located between Eckernförde and Rendsburg. The village Groß Wittensee was the seat of the Amt. In January 2008, it was merged with the Amt Wittensee to form the Amt Hüttener Berge.

Haddeby is an Amt ("collective municipality") in the district of Schleswig-Flensburg, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is situated on the south bank of the Schlei, southeast of Schleswig. The seat of the Amt is in Busdorf. It was named after the now ruined medieval trading settlement Hedeby.
Windeby I
Windeby I is the name given to the bog body found preserved in a peat bog near Windeby, Northern Germany, in 1952. Until recently, the body was also called the Windeby Girl, because an archeologist believed it to be the body of a 14-year old female due to its slight build. Prof. Heather Gill-Robinson, a Canadian anthropologist and pathologist, used DNA testing to show the body was actually that of a male.

Rendsburg High Bridge
The Rendsburg High Bridge (German: Rendsburger Hochbrücke, officially Eisenbahnhochbrücke Rendsburg) is a railway viaduct on the Neumünster–Flensburg line that also serves as a transporter bridge. The bridge crosses the Kiel Canal at Rendsburg in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. It is federally owned through the Federal Water and Navigation Administration that also owns and runs the canal.
Rendsburg station
Rendsburg station is located in the city of Rendsburg in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein and is at the junction of the Neumünster–Flensburg and Rendsburg Kiel lines. It is currently operated by Deutsche Bahn, which classifies it as a category 4 station. There used to be a direct line from Rendsburg to Husum via Erfde, as distinct from the current route via Jübek. A short section of the Erfde line is still used for the carriage of freight.

Hohn Air Base
Hohn Air Base is a military air base in Germany. It is home to the Lufttransportgeschwader 63 (LTG 63 for short, Air Transport Wing 63 in English) of the German Air Force (Luftwaffe). Since May 1968 the Transall C-160 is operated from the base. During 2013 Air Transport Wing 63 will disband and subsequently the air base will be given up by the German Air Force.
Battle of Turaida
The Battle of Turaida or Treiden (also known as the Battle on Aa) was fought on June 1, 1298 on the banks of the Gauja River near the Turaida Castle . The Livonian Order was decisively defeated by the residents of Riga allied with the Grand Duchy of Lithuania under command of Vytenis. In 1296 a civil war broke out in Terra Mariana between burghers of Riga and the Livonian Order. Johannes III von Schwerin, Archbishop of Riga, unsuccessfully attempted to mediate the dispute.
